They may look like police officers but Correctional Officers don’t have policing duties.  They often work in confined spaces, being more responsible for the protection and security of felons serving time in county jails, penitentiaries and correctional institutions.  Correctional officers oversee and control detained convicts in any of these facilities to ensure inmate security, accountability and order.
